First Serie A campaign with Parma – the players

Sorry it’s been a few days since my last update but I started a temporary job this week!

Anyway, since my last post I have continued with the same save and completed an entire season with Parma – you can probably tell I’m enjoying it!

I inherited a decent first team squad near the end of the 2013/14 season from Roberto Donadoni after he was sacked for a mediocre but in my opinion acceptable league effort.

I wasn’t judged on the outcome of the 2013/14, however I managed to remain in 16th place but for 2014/15 the board expected me to achieve a mid-table finish which I saw as achievable but not easy as we had only a 250k weekly wage budget and £2m for transfers.

The talents already at the club included Greek attacking midfielder Sotiris Ninis (31 apps, 5 assists, 2 goals, 7.01 Av R*), French forward Ishak Belfodil (29 apps, 17 goals, 3 PoM, 7.11 Av R) and Italian MC Andrea Poli (29 apps, 4 assists, 80% Pas R, 7.00 Av R).

With my minute transfer budget I had to look for very cheap/ free transfers and I signed French DC Aymeric Laporte (Athletic), French AML/ AMC Yasine Brahimi (Stade Rennais) and Italian GK Francesco Bardi (Inter) on free transfers.

Laporte (four star potential) was only 20 when he signed but he was a regular solid presence at the centre of our four-man defence and continued to improve throughout the season in no small part down to his extended exposure to first team football.

Brahimi, although only rated as an average player by our scouts, did well in 2014/15 with 6 goals and 6 assists from the left wing.

Most of his goals were tap-ins scored from well-timed runs from the wing to the back post.

Bardi, who played in all of our games, could be loosely described as a wonderkid as he’s only 20 when you start in 2012/13 and judging by his progress so far and scout reports it looks like he’ll become a world class keeper.

He played in every match.

I will tell you how we did in the league and talk about some of our more special results in the next post.

Thanks for reading and remember to check out my top players. They should all be affordable and could do a job for any mid-table club.
